Busy off-season ramps up for LMP3 manufacturers

Preparations are well underway for LMP3 manufacturers ahead of the 2018 season, as Ligier, Norma, ADESS, Ginetta, and AVE-Riley increase operations. For those in IMSA’s Prototype Challenge the season has already begun at Daytona, but closer to home in Europe eyes are on April and the start of racing activities.

Most teams competing in the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup will take part in the collective tests at Le Castellet in April, while the LMP3 Cup Championship cars officially get on track at Donington Park two weeks later.

However private testing is ramping up, with Norma arranging a full day of running on 16th February at Pôle Mecanique d'Alès in the South of France. Its M30 LMP3 machine will be made available for two sessions of ten laps per driver, with mechanics and engineers from Duqueine Engineering – who raced the car in ELMS and VdeV – on hand to discuss the practicalities of running the car. Additional time can also be arranged on the LMP3 sim to aid learning of the track and the car and to tour the Duqueine Driving Centre.

For further information on the Norma test please contact Thibaut Mourgues at [email protected], or +33 (0)7 86 64 62 93. The circuit is within easy reach of several airports: Aérodrome d'Alès – Deaux, Aéroport de Nîmes Alès Camargue Cévennes, and Aéroport de Montpellier Méditerranée.

Meanwhile Ligier, who conducted several customer tests throughout 2017, will be announcing test dates in due course.
