Bute Motorsport, organisers of the GT Cup and LMP3 Cup Championships, will offer the public their first up close look at the Norma Automotive M30 LMP3, as it makes its first UK show appearance at the Autosport International.
The car, which DKR Engineering took to championship success in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this year, is available for competition in the LMP3 Cup Championship. Several teams have expressed interest, with Lanan Racing undertaking several tests in France.
Norma M30s raced to success in four of the seven Michelin Le Mans Cup races in 2017 with DKR Engineering. In VdeV it was an identical result, with four wins in seven races for Duqueine Engineering, while the European Le Mans Series two of the M30s raced for the full season and two for part-seasons, with one race victory and second place finish.
"We wanted the Norma M30 to be competitive and win races, to become a key player and the new LMP3 standard," said Norbert Santos, founder Norma Automotive. "Our goal remains to see the Norma M30 on the podium in championships across the globe, and the LMP3 Cup Championship is logically the next place for our cars to race.
"We are excited to work with Bute Motorsport to exhibit our cars at the Autosport International show and build a strong relationship with them throughout the year and beyond."
Also on the stand will be the 2017 champions car; the LMP3 Cup-winning Ligier JS P3 from Nielsen Racing with Ecurie Ecosse, driven by Alasdair McCaig and Colin Noble.
The winning drivers in the 2018 LMP3 Cup Championship will once again receive a free entry into the 2019 Michelin Le Mans Cup, valued at €45,000. The prize includes participation in the "Road To Le Mans" races, the second of which will take place on Saturday 16 June, ahead of the 86th 24 Heures du Mans, cementing the LMP3 Cup as a key step on the ladder to Le Mans.
"We are very excited to be bringing to the Norma LMP3 car to the UK," said Chris Haynes, Bute Motorsport Managing Director. "We have worked closely with the ACO as well as the manufacturers to ensure the LMP3 Cup is well supported by key stakeholders. Having the Norma on our stand is testament to the effort we have put in and will bring a new dimension to the championship in 2018."
The show opens on the 11th January 2018 and runs for four days, with Saturday and Sunday open to the public. The Bute Motorsport stand will be in prime position in the main hall, in front of the main entrance and within sight of the Autosport stage, on stand number 2620. Further exciting developments for the Bute Motorsport stand will be made in due course.
